Old-fashioned pasta frola or quince candy tart
For make this recipe, we need to have "membrillo" that is a sweet that comes from the fruit Membrillo, that seems like this is sweet obviously and granulated, cause the little seeds that brings inside but still can be eat without problems.
There's other kinds of membrillo, that yellowish is called "membrillo de batata" that is i guess, the second more common to eat that looks like this, but to be sincere, i dont like it😓but you maybe do. 😄
But in this time i will show you how to bake a delicious Pasta frola or Quince candy tart with the red one.
So we will begin with the ingredients needed: We'll need: 400grs leavening flour
200grs sugar
200grs cold buttter
3 egg yolks
1 spoon Vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
400grs membrillo (quince candy)
100ml hot water
We put in a bowl the flour and sugar and we mix it with a spoon, then, we add the cold butter in squares and we sand it with fingers till ingredients integrate a little. Because butter is cold and its better, aftter that, the egg yolks, and a spoon of vanilla extract, we start to kindly form the batter, i do it with my hands i feel like the batter is better in taste and consistency, i keep doing this, ( i don't use the blender cause my grandmother used to do it with her hands, i think that that's why it was crunchy and different to others) when its formed we take a bit and leave it aside, put it in the baking tray and push it to the bottom of the tray, but not so much cause it has butter and the temperature of hands will melt it a bit thats not the idea, but if happens you just put it on the fridge 15 m, when the batter be better formed, and placed. we put.in a bowl the quince candy with a glass of hot water, for make it kinda mermelade looking. So with a fork we smash it well. Later, we pour that mermelade over the batter that we have already placed in baking tray, we spread it well and with the piece of batter that we have aside we make strips we put them over the mermelade forming a poinded like it sees in the image and we bake it in medium heat for 35m.
